Merry Christmas!!

Look at all the goodies I made for my wife!!!

This was my my Christmas present to her.  A knitting box, a Niddy Nosty, a yarn swift and two nostipindes.
I will admit to having a little bit of guilt about getting to play in my shop for days under the guise of "Making presents"… but I’ll get over it.  I think she is ok with it…

I have already talked about the sewing box but the other stuff bears mentioning in detail.  The nostipindes are used to wind yarn into a ball.  They look like fancy, thick drumsticks.  These two are 14" long and are made out of the yummiest walnut I have ever seen.

The yarn swift was one of those things she asked me to make and I assumed would be easy to find plans for online.  This was not the case, so I had to just grab a couple of pictures I found and make my own.  I did, however, decide to be a nice guy and created this Yarn Swift Plan, which describes in detail how to build one.

Finally, the niddy nosty is basically a nostipinde with a couple of pieces of wood on each end that allows you to wind a skein or ball your yarn.  In case you are wondering, I have no idea what I just said there.  That was a mental cut an paste from the site I saw them at.  My wife had asked for one for a while, but last night I realized I had lots of stuff for her but nothing to put in her stocking (her fiber card cloth is still in transit…)… Embarrassed  So I ran downstairs and grabbed a couple of the prettiest pieces of oak I had and got to work.  I think the result is kinda pretty!  I finished it with beeswax.

Anyway, the kids all got lots of goodies, I got woodworking music (W00T!!! Headbanging music… go figure…) and more lumber got convinced to be "stuff" for my wonderful and darling wife.  Good times…
